Nursing doctor Tran Thuy Khanh Linh, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Nursing and Medical Technology, Department of Nursing, Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy shared: F0s when quarantined at home need to think positively and keep their spirits up.

`Maintaining positive life energy will help strengthen the body’s resistance, helping patients recover quickly,` Dr. Khanh Linh emphasized.

Below are instructions from Dr. Khanh Linh in the `Covid-19 Health Handbook` to help disseminate knowledge about Covid-19 and handle situations when taking care of F0 at home.

What to do when you have a fever

Monitor body temperature every two hours until fever disappears and returns to normal temperature (36 – 37.5°C).

Fever above 39°C must be reported to medical staff.

What to do when coughing

Take cough suppressants, clean your nose and throat, and gargle with mouth and throat cleaning solutions or physiological saline, three times a day.

Treatment for sore throat

Drink plenty of warm water from 1.5 liters – 2 liters/day.

Treatment of diarrhea

Drink lots of water and supplement with adequate nutrition.

What to do when tired

Eat well, don’t skip meals.

Treatment for loss of taste

Adequate nutritional supplementation is required.

Treat muscle pain and headaches

Rest properly, do not lie in bed for long periods of time.

When the SPO2 index is below 94%

According to master, doctor Tran Dang Khoa, monitoring the SPO2 index is very important, because most people with Covid-19 when taken to medical facilities are in critical condition because SPO2 drops low.

Monitor SPO2, twice daily in the morning and afternoon.

When SPO2 is greater than 90% but less than 94%, seek medical advice or hospitalization.

When the fever is above 38.5°C, the patient can take paracetamol at a dose of 10-15 mg/kg/time.
