Students of Le Duc Tho Primary School were welcomed by teachers at the gate and helped wash their hands before entering class.

From 6:30 a.m., more than 400 5th grade students at Le Duc Tho Primary School (Go Vap district) were taken to school by their parents.

Outside the gate, more than 10 teachers held flowers, dressed as superheroes, Snow White… to welcome students.

Meeting the teachers again after a long vacation, Nguyen Gia Hy was surprised by the teachers’ thoughtful welcome and the fun school atmosphere.

And Vu Hoang Long said `the last Tet holiday was the longest in my life`.

After students gather in class, the homeroom teacher guides them on how to stay healthy during the epidemic season such as wearing a mask, covering their mouth when coughing, and washing their hands regularly with soap.

Many teachers admitted being `very nervous` when welcoming students back to school.

5th grade students at Le Duc Tho Primary School listened to the announcement of the second semester schedule on the morning of May 8.

According to the plan of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, the second semester program for elementary school students has 10 weeks of actual learning remaining, expected to end the school year on July 15.

In the first two weeks, students were taught Covid-19 prevention skills and reviewed online learning content from the previous 8 weeks.

At the middle and high school levels, students in grades 6, 7, 8, 10, and 11 also go to school today, returning to school from May 11.

On the afternoon of May 7, the Ministry of Education and Training requested localities and schools not to use hats or hats to protect students in the air, and not to require wearing masks in the classroom.

Ho Chi Minh City currently records two people infected with nCoV, including `patient 91` – a British pilot and `patient 271`, a British national, who arrived in the city on April 28 as a specialist and was quarantined when getting off the plane.
