The US continuously voiced its support for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ahead of the Israeli election, a sign of the `dim` future in the conflict in the Middle East.

AP reported that on April 8, the US placed the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) on the list of foreign terrorist organizations.

In The Washington Post, the Iranian government condemned this erroneous `gift` from the US just to increase Prime Minister Netanyahu’s chances of being re-elected.

Calculation before the Israeli election

During this election campaign, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu emphasized his close relationship with US President Donald Trump and vowed to fight against challenges from Iran throughout the Middle East.

Recently, Mr. Netanyahu announced that he would annex occupied Israeli settlements in the West Bank if he wins another term.

Previously, the White House owner broke decades of international consensus by declaring recognition of Israel’s sovereignty over the Golan Heights.

In a speech to American Jews in Las Vegas, President Trump affirmed Netanyahu as their prime minister.

The Israeli election on April 9 raises many questions for voters, whether they want permanent control of the West Bank territory with about 2.9 million Palestinians or whether they want a Palestinian state to be established there.

Israeli-Palestinian reconciliation: Impossible

Because no party in Israel has ever won a majority of seats in parliament, the country has always had to form coalition governments after elections.

Meanwhile, Reuters news agency reported that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan affirmed Palestinian sovereignty over the West Bank and pledged to stand with Palestine against the challenge from Israel.

In an interview with Sputnik news agency, Mr. David Schultz, professor of political science at Hamline University (USA), believes that to achieve this reconciliation, the parties including the US, Israel, Palestine, Russia and Syria must agree.

Settlements are one of the hottest issues in Israeli-Palestinian peace negotiations, which have been frozen since 2014. After decades of settlement, more than 400,000 Israelis now live in the West Bank (

Palestinians and many countries consider the settlements illegal, as the Geneva Convention prohibits settlement in land captured in war.
